ISDN Terminal Aadapters (TAs) were used to emulate a RS-232 attached modem with Hayes-compatible AT command set, while instead of attaching to analog phone lines, they attached to ISDN, permitting speeds of 64000 bps on one B-channel.

They were comparatively expensive and used primarily with computers that didn't feature ISA or PCI bus for the much lower cost [[ISDN Interface Cards]], or computers for which no drivers for such internal interface cards existed.
