We're happy to announce the next incarnation of RetroNetCall, the retronetworking oriented spin-off of OsmoDevCall
This time, we won't have a presentation but intead a joint, collaborative session where we're analyzing and debugging any potentially remaining issues with the dial plan of divf.retronetworking.org, our central soft-switch of the OCTOI community TDMoIP network. Participants are invited to try making certain calls and we will look at logs/traces and see what we can fix or improve.

We're happy to announce the next incarnation of RetroNetCall, the retronetworking oriented spin-off of OsmoDevCall
This time, laforge will give a brief look decoding Telefax G4 protocol traces, as he recently acquired one of the few G4-capable fax machines, a Canon_FAX-L260i. G4 is the digital-only version of Telefax that works without a modem, directly over the 64k ISDN B-channel.
We'll look into the ITU-specs of Group 4 Facsimile Service as well as at an actual B-channel protocol trace taken a few days ago.

This time, laforge (and maybe some others) will give a tour of divf, the central office of the OCTOI network based on yate + dahdi-trunkdev
We'll look into how subscriber E1 terminate in osmo-e1d + dahid-trunkdev, how that feeds into yate, how the routing/dialplan works, as well as the new SS7/ISUP interconnects to the two EWSD.

As our mailing lists aren't really seeing much use, and the redmine Forums never really saw any use, I decided to try a different path and deploy an instance of the discourse forum software at https://discourse.osmocom.org/
Within this Osmocom discourse, there is a Retronetworking category, with various sub-categories for related topics such as ISDN or Teletex.
There also is a German language corner for retronetworking discussions related to activities specifically happening in Germany, and to be more accessible for German native spakers who may not be confident in their English language proficiency.
Everyone interested is invite to join our discourse.
