It seems there is yet another mechanism next to LOG and MSG in the modem called EVENT. The DIAGDIAG subsystem of DIAG allows to register EVENT handler that prints a MSG each time the specified EVENT occurs. We should be able to enable that and then receive/process the related EVENTS. Some events e.g. related to GPRS timer expiration, which might be of interest to us.
