h1. Arcnet

 {{>toc}}

 Arcnet is another ancient network technology that has mostly been forgotten about, like [[Token_Ring]] or [[FDDI]].

 As a token-passing system, contrary to Ethernet, it has deterministic upper bounds for the maximum latency of a packet traversing the network - which is why it was adopted in al ot of contemporary industrial automation/control equipment.

 h3. COM9026 / COM9032

 Thisis one of the early dual-chip Arcnet solutions.
 * COM9026 is the controller IC
 * COM9032 is the transceiver

 See attachment:COM9026_StandardMicrosystems.pdf and attachment:COM9032.pdf
