Description

Following a major system upgrade on 2024-07-24 around 8:30..9.30 CEST, DIVF is no longer operational.

I did the following upgrades as I was on-site:
  • upgrade AVST "bare iron" OS from Debian 11 + 6.1 backport kernel to Debian 12 (which default 6.1 kernel)
  • upgrade BIOS from 2.5 to 2.8
  • update DIVF VM OS (from older Debian11 linux-image-5.10.0-25-amd64 to current Debian 11 with linux-image-5.10.0-31-amd64)
    • this also pulled in current "nightly" packages for libosmo*
  • rebuild dahdi from /usr/local/src for updated Debian11 kernel
  • rebuild osmo-e1d + isdntap from /usr/local/src for updated libosmo*

The symptoms are:

Jul 25 07:17:34 divf osmo-e1d[644]: DLINP ERROR OCTOI_SERVER(lachesis)[0x56251a255490]{ACCEPTED}: More than 7500 RIFO overflows per second: Peer clock is too fast. Disconnecting. (octoi_srv_fsm.c:390)

So this means that we receive > 7500 frames more on the IP sade than the dahdi-trunkdev is consuming.

The clock source (icE1usb with GPS-DO feeding into Digium TE8xx card) is fine; the E1 link is up and the osmo-e1d on the APU serving that icE1usb reports "all good"

I'll not be able to investigate much today, but should definitely be able over the weekend.
