This is a Teletex test device designed + manufactured by Wandel+Goltermann.

It supports

• emulating a Teletex DTE towards a DCE
• emulating a DCE towards a DTE
• passive sniffing betwenen Telex DTE and DCE
• emulating a CSPDN__Datex-L switch between two Datex-L DTE

lack of display contrast¶

It has been observed that several units have problems with display contrast, even when the respective trimmer potentiometer is maxed out. The cause is leaking electrolytic capacitors in the contrast voltage generation circuit, see pictures below.

After replacing the related capacitors C12, C13, C16 adn C17 on the LCD controller board, the original adjustment range of the contrast trimmer potentiometer could be restored.
