h1. Osmocom Developer Conference 2018
10
11
12
Contrary to [[OsmoCon2018]], the Osmocom Developer Conference 2018 ([[OsmoDevCon2018]]) is an event *by project members for project members*.
13
As such, the primary audience is people who have been contributing to at least one of the Osmocom projects.
14
15
It is *not targeted at users*.
16
17 39 neels
Attendance requires registration (see below) and notification of acceptance. The number of participants is *limited to about 20*.

As our regular venue IN-Berlin is inside an "evacuation area for a bomb defusing on Friday by German police":https://twitter.com/polizeiberlin/status/986504518589407232, we're at an alternative venue *only on Friday*
33
34
"CCC Berlin e.V.":https://berlin.ccc.de/, Marienstr. 11, 10117 Berlin, GERMANY.
35
36
The local and regional train station "Friedrichstr" is very close to the event venue. A variety of trains, S-Bahn as well as U-Bahn (underground) are interconnecting at Friedrichstr.
37
38
Please note *you must use the exit "Schiffbauerdamm"*, which you can reach exclusively from the western end of the top-most rail tracks of S3/S5/S7/S9, as *it is the only exit that gets you to the northern shore of the river Spree*. _All other exits of the station will not get you where you need to be!_.

In the rooms of "IN-Berlin e.V.":http://www.in-berlin.de/, Lehrter Str. 53, 10557 Berlin, Germany, the Universe. ("Map":https://osm.org/go/0MZvv6U8I?node=412766878)

The meeting / seminar / conference room at IN-Berlin is located on ground floor and has windows facing east. In front of those windows is a road + sidewalk which is directly in north-south direction, i.e. it _may_ be possible to set up some (GPS, Thuraya, etc.) antennas on the sidewalk, if required. Some kind of pole+stand is required, though.

46
h2. Format
47
48
49
The format of this workshop is not primarily formal lectures/talks. It's more like "guided discussions", i.e. there are topics and each topic will get an "owner" who should introduce the topic and lead the discussion related to it.

IN-Berlin has a fridge with a selection of cold beverages (lemonades, club mate, water, beers) available to be purchased at extremely low prices (about 1 EUR / bottle). There are tea and coffee-making facilities. They also carry some candy-bar type snacks. There are several supermarkets within walking distance from the venue, if you'd like to bring your own.

133
h3. Train
134
135
136
You can take long distance trains to _Berlin Hauptbahnhof_ (main station), which is only 15mins walking (or 3 bus stops) from the venue.

153
154
Berlin has tons of options, from very cheap to plush and expensive. Pick your favorite.

The closest low-end option in walking distance (about 7 mins) is the "A&O Hostel Berlin-Hauptbahnhof":http://www.aohostels.com/en/berlin/berlin-hauptbahnhof/.
157
158
A more expensive alternative within 15 minutes of walking is "Motel One Berlin-Hauptbahnhof":http://www.motel-one.com/en/hotels/berlin/hotel-berlin-hauptbahnhof/#t=hotelinfo
