The sync worked until Aug 10th and suddenly got broken since then.

it somehow looks as if the crontab -e of root outlined in https://osmocom.org/issues/5397#note-12 is not executed at all. Weird. I've now moved the execution of the mirror script to /etc/cron.d, hoping that this will do the trick.
