IMPORTANT NOTICE: This page contains information about a legacy version of the Osmocom software. This legacy version is no longer maintained. If you use it, don't be surprised if it doesn't work. It was your choice to ignore man-years worth of developments, improvements and fixes. Please migrate to the active/supported software (Osmocom CNI, consisting of OsmoBSC, OsmoMSC, OsmoHLR - a NITB style setup is described at Osmocom_Network_In_The_Box).

BS11-Init was some experimental proof-of-concept code to bring up a Siemens BS-11 micro-bts and perform a location update as well as paging.

It was developed in 2008 by Dieter Spaar, and quickly followed up by the start of OpenBSC in the same year.

BS11-Init became obsolete at that time, but marks a major mile stone into the field of Open Source GSM software.
